WAYNE, NJ – Ryan Jordan scored 23 points to lead Bergen Tech past Passaic Tech, 56-54, in a Big North Liberty matchup Monday afternoon at Passaic County Tech in Wayne. The Knights improved to 3-6 overall, 2-5 in the Liberty. Passaic County Tech falls to 0-8.
The Knights jumped out to 14-8 lead after the first quarter, and led 23-20 at the half. The Bulldogs rallied in the third quarter to take a 41-37 after three quarters.
With the score tied at 43-43, Bergen Tech jumped out to a 50-43 lead as Jordan hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to seven points. The Knights then survived a comeback attempt by Passaic County Tech led by freshman Corey Mulholland late in the fourth.
Mulholland hit three three-pointers in the final minutes to bring the Bulldogs back into the game.
Both teams were plagued by missed foul shots down the stretch, but the Knights were able to hold off the Bulldogs.
Evan Nicholas had 11 for Bergen Tech, while Joshua Acosta added 10.
Passaic Tech was led by Emmanuel Morris’s 13 points, while Mulholland had 12, all of three-pointers and a Trayon Dye added 10.
