PATERSON, NJ – Khalilah Smith just wants her daughter home.
Last seen on February 11 when she reportedly attended a hotel party in Brooklyn, Nyrah Barney Curry, 20, hasn’t been heard from since February 14, her brother said doing a virtual press conference hosted by Black Lives Matter Paterson Monday.
Even then, he added, he’s not sure the text messages he received back were in fact from his sister. “It wasn’t the same person,” he said, characterizing the texts as shorter than those she’d normally send.
Nyrah, described as 5’2 and 100 pounds, might be without her phone, the family members said, adding that it was last pinged in Manhattan. Even without, her brother said, the young woman would have found a way to call her grandmother.
To any friends that may have additional information, her brother asked that they come forward. “Now is the time to bring it to light,” he said.
