PATERSON, NJ – One of the victims in a February 10 shooting has died, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced Tuesday.
According to a statement, Charles Hughes, 38, who had been in critical condition at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center since the time he was wounded in the incident that took place in the area of Summer Street and Broadway, was pronounced dead at approximately 11:05 a.m. Sunday.
A second victim remains hospitalized in stable condition while a third was treated and released.
Hughes becomes the second gunshot victim to die from injuries in as many weeks. On Friday 41-year-old Nasreen Yahsi, a resident of Hawthorne, succumbed to injuries she sustained in a shooting in the area of Oak Street and Martin Street in Paterson in the early hours of Wednesday.
