Thursday Shooting Leaves Victim in Critical Condition

PATERSON, NJ – A 38-year-old Paterson man is in critical condition after being shot while travelling as a passenger in a car Thursday night, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announced.

According to the law enforcement officials, members of the Paterson Police  Department were dispatched to the area of North 1st Street and East Main Street on a report of shots fired at approximately 7:23 p.m.

While officers were initially unable to locate a victim they found evidence of a crime scene leading them a short time later to the victim at the corner of Straight Street and Harrison Street  who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to Saint  Joseph’s University Medical Center by Paterson Fire EMS for treatment.
