Paterson Police End Robbery Spree with Three Arrests

PATERSON, NJ – A contingent of Paterson Police, led by Lieutenants J Bernasconi and S. Judah, as well as Sergeant Joel Santiago, “saturated and locked down” an area around Liberty Street late Sunday after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

The result of the quick action, Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said, were three arrests, one of a juvenile, in relation to that incident and three similar ones that took place on in the morning hours of Friday.

In all four robberies, the first taking place on 21st Avenue at approximately 6:14 a.m. Friday, the victim was struck about the head or body with a handgun before having items, including wallets, keys, and cell phones stolen.

The second robbery took place at approximately 6:46 a.m. in the area of 6th Avenue and E.19th Street and the third in the spree at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the area of E. 28th Street.

After being transported to the Paterson Detective Bureau all three suspects confessed to the four robberies after being interviewed by Detective Sergeant K. Matos, Detective M. Martinez and Detective C. Vidal.

Arrested were Alexander Sami, 20, Paterson; Jimmy German, 19, Garfield, and the 17-year-old juvenile from Paterson.

Patrol Division Officers O. Mora, M. Francisco, S. Perez, J. Kimble, J. Tuminelli, K. Brito, M. Alvarez were also credited for participating in the arrests.
