2 men, 1 woman shot on Paterson street, cops say

Three people were hospitalized Monday, one of them in critical condition, after they were shot in broad daylight on a street in Paterson, authorities said.

Paterson police were called about 2:50 p.m. to the area of 10th Avenue and East 26th Street on a report of a shooting.

Officers found two men, ages 39 and 63, both Paterson residents, who had been wounded by gunfire, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and city Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora.

“While officers were canvassing the area, they were flagged down by a third victim, a 40-year-old female Passaic resident,” Valdes and Baycora said in a statement.

The woman had also been shot in the area of 10th Avenue and East 26th Street, police said.
The victims were all taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where one remained in critical condition Monday night, Valdes and Baycora said.
The shooting was at least the fifth in that area of 10th Avenue so far this year, according to news releases from the county prosecutor’s office.
