COVID-19 Concerns Lead to Cancellation of Remaining Athletics Activities

WAYNE, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Board of Athletic Administrators, in coordination with the administration at each of its 10 full-member institutions, made the difficult but necessary decision on March 18 to cancel all conference contests, non-conference contests and league championships for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision encompasses all practices and competitions for William Paterson University’s 13 intercollegiate programs.

This unprecedented action was taken in the best interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff members, officials, families and fans. These measures are consistent with those taken so far in response to this rapidly-evolving national health threat.

To everyone involved with WP Athletics, please know that this decision was not made lightly. We eagerly look forward to welcoming you back to the field, pitch, court and pool once this threat has passed. To our spring senior student-athletes whose athletic careers have ended prematurely, we thank you for your commitment and passion, and your dedication and impact, on and off our campus. You will always be a Pioneer, and you will always have a home at William Paterson University.
